Ideal Projects:
Garments and accessories that require a bit of body such as pencil skirts, trousers, overalls, blazers, tote bags, backpacks and the like
Home goods like aprons, placemats, cushion covers, pillows, throws, and light upholstery
Shrinkage Expectation:
Across one yard:
Approximately 1⁄4” on width Approximately 2 to 2 1⁄4” on length
*Note that an approximate 1⁄4” of fray on each edge is in addition to shrinkage loss
Sewing:
A seam allowance of 1⁄2” or 5/8” is recommended
Needle size should be at least 11/75, however if sewing with multiple layers, you may choose to bump up to 14/90 or 16/100
A standard 50wt thread and a slightly longer stitch length (2.8 or 3) works well for seams
Finishing seam allowance edges with serger or zigzag stitch can prevent fray
