Gimp is a very strong, round thread made of rayon. It is mainly used for the sheathing of tassel heads, the production of firm cord and decorative skirts for tassels. Gimp consists of an inner thread, the core, which is tightly and firmly wrapped with a rayon thread. It is suitable for many creative ideas in hand and machine embroidery. Work a French knot with Gimp and you will want to work this stitch only with this material! Or use it for couching techniques to work a very trenchant, linear border, giving each shape and stitch a special emphasis.
