Instructor Bio: | I started making doll clothes by hand when I was about 5. At about 9 I started making clothes for myself using a sewing machine. I joined 4H when I was about 10 or 11. We were a “city” group. My leader specialized in sewing and cooking. In High School I made a 3 p[piece suit for my nephew while everyone else was making bibs, and a tailored suit for myself. Since I am long wasted and have long arms, and other challenges, I learned how to alter patterns to fit me. I started quilting in 1974 and making quilted garments in the late 90s. I have had quilted outfits in international competitions. I developed a way to make reversible jackets along the way. My mother calls my sewing my silver lining; hence one of my outfits, a grey coat with a silver lining, is called Silver Lining. Quilting has become a passion for me, and making and wearing quilted garments is the most fun. This is about the 10th quilt that I have made using Robin Ruth Design Ruler System. It is a fascinating way to make compasses and appliques. I love her techniques. Paula |
