Posh Penelope Quilt Class with Elaine Poplin
Posh Penelope is a fun scrappy quilt that combines a love for curves with on point sashing and cornerstones! The perfect mix of modern and traditional elements that create a quilt that is timeless.
If you've hesitated about sewing curves before, this is a great low-stress introduction. The Quick Curve Ruler is a very versatile ruler and there are lots of patterns that use it. Sweet Home Quilting carries several patterns HERE.
The full-sized quilt measures 69" x 80". Elaine's display quilt is about 53" square and has 25 blocks instead of 42.
Please note, the class fees do NOT include the Posh Penelope pattern or the Quick Curve Ruler. These must be purchased separately for the class.
For the 6 scrappy blocks we will make in class, Elaine recommends bringing:
o 12 fat quarters for petals/corners/accents to start (prints, solids, whatever you like!)
o 1 yard background fabric to start (full quilt will need 6-1/4 yards)
o Quick Curve Ruler (required!) by Sew Kind of Wonderful **NOT INCLUDED IN CLASS FEE**
(this ruler can be used for a lot of great SKW patterns, so it's not a one-use item)
o Square ruler at least 6.5"
o Sewing kit for class (machine, neutral thread, bobbins, snips, rotary cutter, pins, seam ripper)
o "Posh Penelope" pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful **NOT INCLUDED IN CLASS FEE**
Materials needed for the whole quilt:
(168) 6-1/2" x 6-3/4" Assorted focus fabrics (petals) — you can use a single fabric line, a selection of various fabrics, or whatever you like! A single fat quarter will yield 6 of these pieces (plus some extra for corner sashing), so you’d need 28 FQs for the full quilt. 1 yard will yield 30 pieces (plus some extra), so you’d need at least 6 different yards
(42) 5" x 10" assorted background fabrics (corner sashing)
(42) 6" x 6" assorted focus fabrics (accent corners)
(42) 14" x 20" assorted backgrounds - (OR 6-1/4 yards background fabric)
6 yards backing
1/2 yard binding
