Crazy Christmas Trees



Let's get started on our Christmas projects by creating this adorable Crazy Christmas Tree table runner. To create the table runner we will be using the Creative Grids Spiderweb Ruler. It's a wonky puzzle created by you. Come learn the tricks to making this fun table runner. After you finish your first one, you will want to make several for holiday gifts!!

Sewing machine in good working order and manual if you need it 

Crazy Christmas Trees Pattern by Cut Loose Press

Creative Grids Spider Web Quilt Ruler

Rotary cutter with sharp blade

Minimum 3"x18” quilting ruler for marking and cutting

18"x24" cutting mat

Marking tool of preference for light and dark fabrics

Small thread clipping scissors

Batting – Crib or craft size

8 – 10” x 10 “ squares, suggested on pattern green/blue(see sample)but your choice

8 light 11” x 14” low volume fabrics(see sample)

1 ½ yd. - backing and binding(could wait on this) may want to do scrappy binding from low volume leftovers(see sample)

Thread for piecing and Quilting– SHQ carries Quilter's Select in 60wt and 80wt and Wonderfil Decobob in 80 wt. We also have Aurifil 50wt.  Choose your favorite.

 

BEFORE Class have all fabric washed (if you prefer) heavily starched and ironed. There is a lot of cutting to be done before we can do any sewing. If you have any clips and labels you like to use to organize your cut pieces bring them.

Instructor: Denise Reuter
Instructor Bio: Denise Reuter has lived in Madison County for 39 years with a couple of short excursions to the DC area for her husband's job. She has been teaching here and in the DC area since 2003. She began sewing as a child on her grandmother's 1935 Singer treadle sewing machine, working her way up to her mom's Kenmore, and on to her own hot pink White brand machine. She has created everything from quilts to ski jackets, wrap around skirts to prom dresses, draperies and upholstery, machine applique and computerized machine embroidery. She began teaching entry level sewing classes for Hancock Fabrics in 2003. In 2007 she took a position at BERNINA Sewing Machine USA for 2 years as a manager and educator. In late 2010 she returned full time to her passion, teaching, for the three North Alabama Hancock Fabrics stores where she expanded her course selections to intermediate classes, serger classes, quilting classes, machine applique and machine embroidery classes. Again in 2015 through 2018 she received extensive training and taught for a BERNINA Dealer while in the DC area. She has become experienced with every brand of sewing machine and serger, receiving extensive training from Janome and Bernina sewing machine companies.
